Charity Cruise and Fleet Week Fireworks: Aboard The “Floating White House” with My Yacht Group

Celebrating another San Francisco Fleet Week, the nation’s largest and most significant celebration of America’s Sea Services that includes air shows and ship tours, My Yacht® Group welcomed guests aboard Presidential Yacht USS Potomac, Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s “Floating White House”, for a third consecutive charity reception and cruise.

Longtime strategic partner Vontobel Swiss Wealth Advisors AG (VSWA) returned to host international and Bay area guests aboard the historic vessel.  With Swiss quality and a Swiss outlook, VSWA – a division of Bank Vontobel (est. 1924 and headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland) specializes in globally diversified, SEC-compliant wealth management for North American clients. 

Departing from the famed Ferry Building, the 165-foot steel yacht took a tour of San Francisco Bay, including the Bay and Golden Gate Bridges, and Alcatraz, culminating in a prime view of the fireworks display with the city skyline providing the perfect backdrop.

On board, former Commanding Officers / Flight Leaders for the U.S. Navy “Blue Angels” Flight Demonstration Squadron George Dom, USN (Ret., below left) and Steve Foley, USN (Ret., below right) addressed guests to highlight the important work being done by the Blue Angels Foundation, the charitable outreach arm of the squadron, that features an all-volunteer Board of Directors, and was MYG’s chosen charity partner for the event once again. 

More than 20 veterans commit suicide each day, and $5,000 can literally save a veteran’s life through a 30-day, drug-free PTSD treatment protocol.

BAF’s mission is to help each wounded veteran it supports track towards & attain a purpose-driven life in the civilian sector that has a generational impact (through impacting a marriage, improving relationships with kids, other family members, passing down a normal childhood to their kids, & more).  Its aim is to donate 100% of donations received towards the cause. Significant on board donations, a portion of proceeds from ticket sales, plus 100% of the onboard silent auction will benefit the charity.  Direct donations can be made at BlueAngelsDonation.org

The event marked the debut of a new partnership with the Bespoke Collection, that offers a curated selection of boutique wines, one-of-a-kind objects d’art, and unique lifestyle experiences in the Napa Valley, Argentina, and beyond. Led by Founder Michael Polenske and President Paul Leary, the current Bespoke Collection portfolio includes Blackbird Vineyards and ÆRENA Galleries & Gardens in the Napa Valley, ÆRENA Wines in Northern California and Recuerdo Wines in Mendoza, Argentina.

Guests enjoyed 2015 Blackbird Vineyards 93 pts “Arise” and 94 pts “Illustration” Proprietary Reds, plus 2017 Aerena’s Rosé (95 pts) and Chardonnay.

In addition, Rebecca Creek Whiskey and Enchanted Rock Premium and Peach Vodkas returned as featured spirits aboard, while live entertainment from local sensation “Citizens Jazz” kept guests entertained with a mix of cool jazz and standards.

USS Potomac docents were on hand to take guests on tours of the austere yacht including FDR’s private quarters, and guest rooms where HM King George VI and Queen Elizabeth rested during a 1939 visit.
